JASON’S LIGHT
Dedicated to preventing suicide among law enforcement professionals and other first responders.
At Jason’s Light, we envision a world where no one ever feels so helpless and alone that they take their own life. By building community, advocating for change, and providing valuable resources and support for suicide prevention, we’re creating a future where brave men and women in crisis can always find the help and hope they need to carry on.
Lighting a path forward
How we help
-
We work with police departments, public officials, and community organizations to advance the cause of suicide prevention through programming and policy.
-
We provide a wealth of resources and information for people who are struggling with mental health crises and suicidal thoughts—and for the friends and family who care about them.
-
We help fund programs that share our mission, supporting their work to prevent suicide and save lives. We also fund the Jason Liaban Memorial Scholarship, for a high school senior who embodies Jason’s spirit of courage and compassion.
-
We will plan gatherings, educational events, and projects that bring people together to combat isolation and heighten awareness and support for suicide prevention.
Jason’s Light is named for Sergeant Jason Liaban of the Bergen County, New Jersey, Maywood Police Department, who died by suicide at age 39. We’re on a heartfelt mission to prevent this kind of tragedy, providing help and hope to first responders and their families in Northern New Jersey and beyond.
With your gift, we can continue to light a path to hope for first responders at risk of suicide.
Your support can help save lives
“Grit your teeth and let it hurt. Don’t deny it, don’t be overwhelmed by it. It will not last forever.”
